Adam Kay left medicine after six years as a junior doctor in Britain's National Health Service and turned his diaries from that training into This Is Going to Hurt, a 2017 memoir that became a bestseller and, in 2022, a BBC television adaptation he wrote himself. His earlier television writing credits include Mrs. Brown's Boys and Peep Show creators David Mitchell and Robert Webb's sketch show.
