Alf Dubs, Baron Dubs

Alf Dubs escaped Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia as a six-year-old on the Kindertransport, joining his father who had already fled to Britain. He built a career in British politics from that start, serving eight years as Labour MP for Battersea and, after losing his seat, becoming a life peer who served as a minister in the Blair government's Northern Ireland Office; in the Lords he has been a leading voice for child refugees.
