Alfie Bass

Born Abraham Basalinsky in Bethnal Green, London, the youngest of ten children in a Jewish family whose parents had emigrated from Russia, he built a decades-long career across British stage, film, television, and radio. His range let him move between comic and dramatic roles at a time when few actors from London's East End Jewish community found such steady mainstream work.
