Alfred Mond, 1st Baron Melchett

A British industrialist, financier and Liberal politician who helped merge four chemical firms in 1926 into Imperial Chemical Industries, one of Britain's largest companies for most of the twentieth century. He served in government during and after the First World War, and in his later years became an active Zionist, using his industrial and political standing to support the movement for a Jewish homeland in Palestine.
