Aline MacMahon
actress
1899 – 1991aged 92
Aline MacMahon moved between Broadway and Hollywood for over five decades, from a small role in a 1920 Broadway production through a film career beginning in 1931 and running until her 1975 retirement. Her performance in Dragon Seed earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 1944, playing a Chinese peasant woman in a role far removed from the era's typical casting for American actresses.
