An actress and former model trained by Sanford Meisner, Turkel broke through in 99 and 44/100% Dead (1974) and went on to headline genre films like Humanoids from the Deep (1980) and the Highlander episode "Chivalry," playing an immortal warrior. She also brought the comic-strip adventuress Modesty Blaise to television in a 1982 pilot. Her career, running from 1968 into the 1990s across film and TV, outlasted her much-publicized marriage to actor Richard Harris.
