Dichter led Israel's Shin Bet security service before entering politics, later serving as internal security minister and minister of home front defense, and currently as minister of agriculture and food development. His career traces a common Israeli path from the security services directly into cabinet office, giving him a rare vantage point on both sides of the country's counterterrorism policy.
