Born Barry Alan Pincus, Manilow wrote and performed hits including "Mandy", "I Write the Songs", and "Copacabana (At the Copa)", placing 51 singles on the Adult Contemporary chart over a career now past sixty years. He has sold more than 85 million records, produced Grammy-nominated albums for Bette Midler and Dionne Warwick, and in the 1970s drew a prediction from Frank Sinatra — "He's next" — that held up.
