Barry Mann, born Barry Imberman, built one of pop music's most prolific songwriting partnerships with his wife, Cynthia Weil, writing or co-writing 53 hit singles in the UK and 98 in the US. Working out of New York's Brill Building alongside contemporaries like Carole King, the pair helped shape the sound of 1960s rock and roll from behind the scenes rather than on stage.
