A dancer, singer, and actor who carried the film-musical tradition into television after Hollywood's studio-era musicals had largely ended, earning a Tony nomination for No, No, Nanette on Broadway. He built a parallel career as a game-show host and panelist, giving him an unusually long run in American entertainment across stage, screen, and television game shows from the 1950s through the 1970s.
