Charles Fox

American composer for film and television

b. 1940age 85Living

Charles Fox wrote some of American television's most recognizable theme music — Love, American Style, The Love Boat, and the original Monday Night Football among them — years before attaching his name to a hit single. That came in 1973 with "Killing Me Softly with His Song," composed with longtime partner Norman Gimbel and made famous by Roberta Flack's recording, which won the Grammy for Record of the Year and outlasted the television cues that had filled American living rooms for a decade.
