Daniel Bensaïd emerged from the 1968 student uprising at the University of Paris X-Nanterre to become one of France's leading Trotskyist intellectuals, spending decades developing a philosophy of revolutionary politics grounded in careful theoretical argument rather than slogans. He remained a public philosopher and organizer of the French far left for the rest of his life.
