Polish-American architect
b. 1946age 80Living
Daniel Libeskind designed the Jewish Museum in Berlin, a building whose jagged plan and voided interior spaces are themselves an argument about absence and memory, then won the 2003 competition to be master plan architect for the rebuilt World Trade Center site. His firm, founded with his wife Nina in 1989, has since built the Denver Art Museum's extension, the Imperial War Museum North, the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal in Toronto and the Danish Jewish Museum in Copenhagen, among other projects exhibited at MoMA and the Centre Pompidou.
