A film and stage composer whose scores range from the tense pulse of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three to the paranoid hum of Francis Ford Coppola's The Conversation and the political drama All the President's Men, Shire also contributed to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, including its instrumental "Manhattan Skyline." His stage musical scores include Baby, Big, and Closer Than Ever.
