Diane von Fürstenberg

Designed the wrap dress in the early 1970s, a single garment simple enough to become a lasting wardrobe staple and the foundation of a company now sold in over 70 countries. She chaired the Council of Fashion Designers of America for thirteen years and was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 2019. Born Diane Halfin in Belgium, she built her business under the name of a marriage that ended in 1983 and kept it.
