Doc Pomus

American recording artist; blues singer, lyricist

1925 – 1991aged 65

Wrote or co-wrote a run of enduring rock and roll hits, working through a career that began in blues clubs despite the polio that confined him to crutches and later a wheelchair. His songwriting was recognized with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Blues Hall of Fame, an unusual trifecta reflecting how thoroughly his work crossed genre lines.
