Dustin Hoffman

American actor

b. 1937age 89Living

Dustin Hoffman helped define the anti-heroic, emotionally exposed leading man of New Hollywood, playing a directionless college graduate in The Graduate and a street hustler in Midnight Cowboy before winning his first Best Actor Oscar as a father fighting for custody in Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) and his second as an autistic savant in Rain Man (1988). He trained at the Pasadena Playhouse after studying music in Los Angeles, and built a career on versatility rather than a single persona, moving between Little Big Man, All the President's Men, and Tootsie.
