Eli Wallach
American actor
1915 – 2014aged 98
Wallach trained under Sanford Meisner and became a founding member of the Actors Studio, but he's best remembered on screen for playing Tuco, "the Ugly," in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and Calvera in The Magnificent Seven — character roles rather than leading-man parts, across a film career that ran past ninety credits. His stage debut in The Rose Tattoo won him a Tony in 1951, and his screen debut in Baby Doll five years later won him a BAFTA. He and his wife, Anne Jackson, performed together on stage for decades. He received an honorary Academy Award in 2010, four years before his death.
