Eric Weissberg

A banjo player and multi-instrumentalist whose recording of "Dueling Banjos" became the unlikely theme of the 1972 film Deliverance and rose to number two on the US and Canadian charts the following year — an instrumental banjo duet reaching the pop charts was itself a rarity. He spent decades afterward as an in-demand session musician backing folk, bluegrass, and rock artists across generations.
