Georgina Born

Played bass and cello with the experimental rock group Henry Cow and the Feminist Improvising Group before turning the same close attention toward institutions into a career in anthropology. Her ethnography Rationalising Culture (1995) got inside IRCAM, the Paris electronic-music institute Pierre Boulez built, while Uncertain Vision (2004) did the same for the BBC under market reform. Elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2014 and appointed OBE in 2016 for that body of work.
