A character actor whose voice was more famous than his face, playing Captain Hook and George Darling in Disney's Peter Pan and the mustache-twirling villain Snidely Whiplash in Jay Ward's cartoons. On screen he was a recurring foil across the sitcoms of the era — Uncle Tonoose on Make Room for Daddy, guest turns on I Love Lucy — building a career on precise comic timing rather than leading-man looks.
