Harvey Keitel built a career playing morally compromised men for directors who trusted him with the ambiguity — six films with Martin Scorsese starting with Who's That Knocking at My Door (1967), Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction for Quentin Tarantino, three films with Wes Anderson. His performance as the mobster Mickey Cohen in Bugsy (1991) earned him an Academy Award nomination, and he later served as co-president of the Actors Studio alongside Al Pacino and Ellen Burstyn.
