Henry Jaglom
American film director
1938 – 2025aged 87
Left a promising acting career — training at the Actors Studio under Lee Strasberg and helping edit Easy Rider — to make deeply personal, dialogue-driven independent films almost entirely outside the studio system, across more than twenty features and five decades. Someone to Love (1987) preserved Orson Welles' final screen performance; Jaglom's own extended, recorded lunchtime conversations with Welles were later published as My Lunches with Orson. A descendant of the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn, he kept casting himself at the center of his own films until his death in 2025.
