Herb Alpert co-founded A&M Records with Jerry Moss while leading his own band, Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, to five number-one albums in the 1960s. He remains the only musician to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 both as a vocalist, with 'This Guy's in Love with You,' and as an instrumentalist, with 'Rise' a decade later -- a run that also included his 2006 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
