American radio and television personality
b. 1954age 72Living
A radio broadcaster who built an unfiltered, personality-driven morning show into national syndication, eventually reaching 20 million listeners and holding the number one morning slot in both New York and Los Angeles at once. Fired from WNBC in 1985 over his willingness to say what other hosts wouldn't, he moved to WXRK and then, in 2006, to SiriusXM, where he shifted toward long-form interviews with figures from Bruce Springsteen to sitting presidents. He is also the most fined host in FCC history, a byproduct of pushing against broadcast decency rules for decades.
