Israel Horovitz

A prolific American playwright who wrote more than 70 plays, among them Line, Park Your Car in Harvard Yard, and The Indian Wants the Bronx, several translated and staged internationally. He co-founded the Gloucester Stage Company in 1979 and led it as artistic director for nearly three decades, and wrote the screenplays for Author! Author! and My Old Lady. In 2017 he resigned after multiple women who had worked at his theatre companies came forward with sexual assault and harassment allegations, which he did not fully dispute.
