James Goldman

A playwright and screenwriter who won the Academy Award for his screenplay The Lion in Winter (1968), a portrait of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine's marriage that turned medieval royal politics into psychologically sharp drama. His younger brother, William Goldman, became a screenwriter as well, giving the family two Oscar-winning writers a generation apart.
