Best known for playing Marshall Eriksen through nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother, Segel built a parallel career writing and producing the comedies he starred in — Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I Love You, Man, The Five-Year Engagement — after cutting his teeth on Judd Apatow's Freaks and Geeks. He stretched further as David Foster Wallace in The End of the Tour, earning an Independent Spirit nomination, and later co-created and starred in the Apple TV series Shrinking, picking up two Emmy nominations for the role.
