A child model turned actress, Connelly moved between horror, fantasy and prestige drama over four decades — Labyrinth (1986), Requiem for a Dream (2000), Blood Diamond (2006) — and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress playing Alicia Nash in A Beautiful Mind (2001).
