A talent manager turned producer who, in the words of his obituaries, made "show business history" by pioneering the large-scale arena concert tour, managing Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Led Zeppelin, and John Denver among others. He went on to produce Robert Altman's Nashville, Barry Levinson's Diner, the Karate Kid franchise, and the 2001 Ocean's Eleven and its sequels. Later in his career he won Emmys for HBO's Behind the Candelabra and the climate documentary Years of Living Dangerously.
