Forsythe built a six-decade career defined by a distinctive, authoritative voice, most famously as the never-seen millionaire Charlie on Charlie's Angels, a role he reprised on screen in the 2000s film adaptations. On camera, he anchored two more long-running series in very different genres: the sitcom Bachelor Father and, later, the primetime soap Dynasty, where he played patriarch Blake Carrington for eight seasons. His film work included co-starring roles opposite Loretta Young and Shirley MacLaine.
