Jon Favreau acted his way through the 1990s in films like Swingers, which he also wrote, before turning director with Elf and then Iron Man in 2008 — the film that launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe and made him a fixture in it afterward as Happy Hogan. He went on to direct The Jungle Book, The Lion King, and, for Disney+, The Mandalorian, reviving the Star Wars franchise on television with Dave Filoni.
