Judith Kerr

British writer and illustrator

1923 – 2019aged 95

A German-born British writer and illustrator whose books have sold more than 10 million copies, spanning the beloved children's picture books Mog and The Tiger Who Came to Tea and the semi-autobiographical novel When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit, which recreated her family's 1935 flight from Nazi Germany through a child's eyes rather than an adult's retrospective horror. She turned an escape from persecution into some of the twentieth century's most enduring children's literature.
