June Squibb has had one of the longer second acts in American acting, still landing lead roles into her nineties — a Tony nomination for Marjorie Prime came in 2025, seven decades after her Broadway debut in Gypsy. Her Oscar-nominated turn as a sharp, unsentimental Nebraska farm wife in Alexander Payne's Nebraska (2013) remains her best-known work. She converted to Judaism in the 1950s.
