b. c. 1950Living
An artist and filmmaker who, after early experimental film work in Brazil and New York alongside Gordon Matta-Clark and Vito Acconci, moved to Jamaica in 1972 and spent five years inside Bob Marley and the Wailers' inner circle — playing harmonica on Natty Dread, managing their North American tours, and producing and shooting the iconic cover of Peter Tosh's Legalize It (1977). He later turned to large-scale painting addressing marginalization in American history, exhibited at Stockholm's Moderna Museet and the Irish Museum of Modern Art, and wrote two books on his years with the Wailers.
