Leonard Woolf built a career as a political theorist, publisher and civil servant, active for decades in the Labour Party and the Fabian Society. He was an avid publisher of both his own writing and that of his wife, the novelist Virginia Woolf, and wrote nineteen books of his own, including six volumes of autobiography, over a long literary life. The couple had no children.
