Mack Gordon was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song nine times in eleven years, five of them consecutive, finally winning for "You'll Never Know." Born Morris Gittler in Poland and raised in America, he wrote lyrics for Hollywood musicals across the 1930s and '40s, including "At Last" and "The More I See You," songs that have stayed in circulation on film, television and in commercials long after the movies they were written for.
