A Broadway dancer who reinvented herself as one of early 20th-century America's first health-and-beauty gurus, blending yoga and physical culture into what she called "aesthetic athletics." Her 1931 book The Art of the Body was among the earliest to combine yoga practice with the nudist movement then gaining ground in America.
