Michael Rudman

An American theatre director who built his career in England, running the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh and then the Hampstead Theatre before spending a decade at the National Theatre in London, where he ran the Lyttelton. His production of Death of a Salesman starring Dustin Hoffman and John Malkovich won the Tony Award for Best Revival, and he directed the world premiere of Bernard Pomerance's play — reportedly talking the author into renaming it from Deformed to The Elephant Man.
