Monty Hall
Canadian radio and television show host
1921 – 2017aged 96
Born Monte Halparin, Hall moved from Canadian radio into American television, where in 1963 he co-created and hosted Let's Make a Deal, a game show whose central gimmick — choosing between doors hiding prizes or duds — became so well known that a probability puzzle bears his name, the Monty Hall problem. Away from the cameras he devoted much of his life to philanthropy. His decades on air made him one of the most recognizable game-show hosts in American broadcasting.
