Nancy Meyers built one of the most commercially reliable careers in American comedy by writing and directing films largely about women navigating middle age and beyond -- Something's Gotta Give, It's Complicated, The Intern -- after an Oscar-nominated screenwriting start with Private Benjamin in 1980. She also co-wrote both Father of the Bride films and wrote and directed The Parent Trap and What Women Want.
