Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal
American screenwriter
b. 1946age 80Living
Naomi Foner Gyllenhaal wrote the screenplay for Running on Empty (1988), earning an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe win, and went on to write Losing Isaiah and Bee Season before directing her first film, Very Good Girls, which premiered at Sundance in 2013. She is also the mother of actors Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal — a fact that shouldn't obscure a screenwriting career built well before theirs.
