Nathaniel Weyl
American politician
1910 – 2005aged 94
Nathaniel Weyl belonged to the Communist Party of the United States from 1933 to 1939, then broke with it to become an outspoken conservative and anti-communist writer, a reversal that put him at the center of one of the era's defining controversies when he played a minor role as a witness in the 1952 Alger Hiss case. He went on to write widely on economics and social issues from his new political vantage point.
