Neil Diamond wrote and recorded ten number-one singles, from "Cracklin' Rosie" to "America," and has sold more than 56.5 million records in the US alone, one of the best-selling musicians in history. "Sweet Caroline" became a stadium singalong far beyond its original context, and Diamond starred in the 1980 remake of The Jazz Singer. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
