Nouriel Roubini
American economist
b. 1958age 68Living
An economist whose warnings are remembered for being right: in 2006 he told the IMF a housing collapse would trigger a global recession, earning the nickname "Dr. Doom" before the 2008 crisis proved him correct. Turkish-born, he taught at NYU's Stern School after a Harvard doctorate and a stint advising the Clinton administration's Council of Economic Advisers. He has since built a second reputation as a persistent skeptic of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
