Peter Berg has directed across genres, from the black comedy Very Bad Things to a five-film run with Mark Wahlberg that includes the war drama Lone Survivor and the disaster film Deepwater Horizon, both based on real events. He created Friday Night Lights for television, adapting his own 2004 film into an NBC series that earned two Primetime Emmy nominations, and also directed Battleship (2012), one of the biggest box-office bombs in film history.
