1935 – 2020aged 85
Richard A. Lupoff wrote two dozen novels and more than forty short stories across science fiction and mystery, alongside a parallel career as a leading authority on Edgar Rice Burroughs and H. P. Lovecraft. With Don Thompson he co-edited All in Color for a Dime, described as the first published book of comic-book criticism, followed by a sequel, The Comic-Book Book — helping establish comics scholarship as a subject worth writing about seriously before it was fashionable to do so.
