Built a stand-up career out of turning anxiety into material, developing a dark, self-deprecating style that made him one of the defining comic voices of the 1980s. He starred in the ABC sitcom Anything but Love and played Prince John in Robin Hood: Men in Tights, but became best known to a new generation playing an exaggerated version of himself on Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm, a role he held from the show's 2000 premiere until his death in 2024.
