American architect
b. 1934age 92Living
An architect who built an entire signature out of white geometric planes and light, from the Getty Center's hilltop travertine campus to the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. He won the Pritzker Prize in 1984, architecture's highest honor, for a body of work that treated modernism's austerity as something to be inhabited rather than merely admired. In 2018, several former employees accused him of sexual harassment and assault, allegations he initially denied; he took a leave from his firm and resigned from it in 2021.
