Richard Schiff spent seven seasons as Toby Ziegler on The West Wing, the White House communications director whose weary integrity won him an Emmy — a role he eventually got to direct an episode of. Before acting he trained as an art historian and taught at the college level. He later played Dr. Aaron Glassman, mentor to an autistic surgeon, on The Good Doctor, and voiced Odin in the 2022 video game God of War: Ragnarök. He also sits on the National Advisory Board of the Council for a Livable World, which lobbies against nuclear weapons.
